TRADITION

Passionate about nature and winter sports since 1922

In 1922, Fritz Pellkofer, Gustl Müller and "Han" Bauer founded the Bayrischzell Ski School and were subsequently able to win their friends Wastl Bucher, Hartl Hörmanndorfer and Konrad Simmerl as ski instructors. As a passionate skier and ski instructor with years of experience, Klaus Storch has been continuing this tradition on his own since 2020.

In 1905, ski instructors from Norway came to Bayrischzell to introduce the locals to their enthusiasm for the sport in Upper Bavaria's first ski course. 130 skiers took up the challenge and the passion for this new sport was immediately awakened and grew steadily. With the construction of the railway line to Bayrischzell in 1911, the influx of ski bunnies and rabbits exploded to such an extent that even special trains had to be used.

In 1922, Fritz Pellkofer, Gustl Müller and "Han" Bauer founded the Bayrischzell Ski School and were subsequently able to win their friends Wastl Bucher, Hartl Hörmanndorfer and Konrad Simmerl as ski instructors. The three founders were called "the cloverleaf" because together they have collected many successes in international and national ski competitions.

In 1928 even 4 ski instructors from the "Skidorf Bayrischzell" made it to the Olympic Winter Games in St. Moritz. As part of the German Olympic team, they proudly represented their ski school. The "Viererkleeblatt" brought home many titles and trophies in the following years, including 5 Bavarian, 3 German, one Tyrolean and one Hungarian championship. At the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Fritz Pellkofer, landlord of the inn "Rote Wand" in Geitau, was even captain of our Olympic team.

In 1949, the completion of the chairlifts to Sudelfeld brought a real upswing for winter tourism and skiing. The ski instructors who returned from the Second World War rebuilt the ski school and also participated in the founding of the German Ski Instructors Association. The constantly evolving skiing and skiing technique was significantly shaped by the founders of the Ski School Bayrischzell and their successors.
